About Media Mechanic: Web Design & Development

My name is Paul Ward and I am the founder and creative force behind Media Mechanic. I am an award winning designer based in Portland, Oregon (originally from Grand Rapids, MI) with 9 years of experience in web & multimedia development. In addition, I am also a web application programmer, trained illustrator, 3D Graphics artist and musician/audio engineer of nearly 17 years.
Media Mechanic is a Limited Liability Company owned & operated by me. All hosting services are provided by me, on servers I own (which are co-located at a third party facility). On large scale development projects (which require larger teams to complete), Media Mechanic assembles & manages teams comprised from a network of freelance contract developers I have worked with over the years.
Media Mechanic was founded with the following goal in mind: Lead by Example.
If you are to be taken seriously as a designer/developer, capable of handling the latest technologies, then you can’t have a website which looks like you spent an afternoon building it. How can you be trusted to do the work you are promising, if you can’t (or won’t) build a quality website for yourself. In that spirit, I built MediaMechanic.net using the latest design software and the newest advances in technologies such as PHP, XML, Flash, XHTML, CSS, MySQL & AJAX. Every graphical element was custom illustrated & designed from scratch (including all 3D elements) to fully demonstrate my graphical, digital illustration & design prowess.
MediaMechanic.net was built to serve as a living example of what is possible when you marry top-notch graphics with a powerful backend. Equipped with my custom built Content Management System, MediaMechanic.net’s administration allows me complete content control of every page without having to touch an ounce of code. It also allows the user(me) to manage all incoming contact information via my powerful, custom, Contact Manager.
This website can also:
- notify me (via email and phone) when a client needs to contact me for technical support
- notify me (via email and phone) when visitors have questions
- notify me (via email and phone) each time a visitor submits information
- allow clients to create & pay for new web hosting accounts securely
- notify me (via email and phone) immediately after a new account is created
- allows each newly created account (automatically generated onto my servers) to be managed from a secure admin
- automatically generate XML docs from its two blogs, which can be used to feed your RSS reader
- organize and manage all contact client information securely & generate reports
- provide me the ability to manage the server from remote locations
All this, and it will wash your car too! (ok, maybe not)
